Whole Home Remodeling Services We Offer

Stak Construction can help with focused updates, multi-room renovations, and full home remodeling projects.
Interior remodeling can include new flooring, trim, doors, paint, drywall repair, fixture updates, built-ins, carpentry, room updates, layout improvements, and finish work throughout the home.

Sometimes these projects are about cleaning up and modernizing an older home. Other times, they’re about smartly applying a design concept across several rooms so that the house is consistent from one space to the next.
A home may have plentiful square footage but still feel awkward because of the layout.

We can provide 3D renderings and help think through wall changes, room openings, improved flow, better storage, and how one room connects to another. If specialized plumbing, electrical, structural, or trade work is needed, we coordinate with licensed local professionals we consistently work with so that everything is handled by trustworthy experts while we manage things as your point of contact.

The goal isn’t to make changes just for the sake of changing things. The goal is to make your home work better, look better, and feel better.
Kitchens and bathrooms are often the biggest parts of a whole home renovation.

We can handle full kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, tub-to-shower conversions, custom tile showers, vanities, flooring, backsplashes, cabinets, countertops, fixtures, lighting coordination, waterproofing, and finish work.

Because Stak has strong hands-on experience in tile, flooring, carpentry, and detailed finish work, we pay close attention to the small aspects of renovations that others might overlook.
The details are what make a renovation feel truly complete.

We install flooring, tile, trim, doors, cabinetry, built-ins, custom carpentry, backsplashes, finish details, and other features that complete your home remodel project. Level surfaces, clean transitions, straight lines, well-planned materials, and careful finish work all matter.

These are the details homeowners notice every day after the remodel is done, so we spend extra time ensuring that you’ll be satisfied long after we’ve finished the job.
A whole home project may include more than just addressing the main living areas.

Our team at Stak is also heavily experienced at finishing basements, improving or building decks, adding outdoor living spaces, or turning basements or other underused areas into more practical parts of your home.

Remodeling That Starts with How You Actually Use Your Home

A whole home renovation shouldn’t be based on just what looks good in a photo. It should start with what isn’t working well in your home right now.

Maybe the kitchen feels closed off and uncomfortably separated from the rest of the house. Maybe the bathrooms are outdated. Maybe the floors, trim, paint, and fixtures are all pieced together from different decades. Maybe the basement has unused potential. Maybe your family has grown, your routines have changed, or the home simply doesn’t fit your lifestyle anymore.

That’s where our planning conversation really makes a difference.

We ask how you use the home, what frustrates you, what needs to function better, which areas are outdated, and which parts are the most important to invest in first. Then we help you think through the project in an efficient and practical order so that the final result is fully cohesive instead of a patched together mess.

We do this every day and can provide you with professional expertise and experienced guidance on what works practically and what doesn’t. We’ll share the renovation solutions that other homeowners in the area are employing so you can see what’s working in real life and which materials you can confidently depend on.

Our Home Remodeling Process

A larger renovation can feel overwhelming because of how many decisions are involved. Not to mention the various specialized trades, like electricians, plumbers, HVAC, roofers, framers, and the accompanying schedules, permits, and so on. We work hard to keep the process clear from the first walkthrough to the final cleanup so that you always know what’s going on.
1. First Conversation
When you’re considering a home renovation and call Stak to learn more or get a free estimate, we start by asking questions to best understand your goals and needs. We’ll ask what you want to change, why, and what your estimated budget is. Don’t worry if you don’t know the answers, because we can also help you find them.

Are you updating the whole interior? Remodeling several rooms? Opening up a layout? Improving a kitchen, bathroom, basement, or deck? We’ll listen to your priorities so that we fully understand what kind of project you have in mind before the in-person walkthrough and consultation.
2. In-Home Walkthrough with Alex
Our owner Alex Shostak personally comes to your home for the initial walkthrough, usually within 1–2 days of your call.

During that visit, he listens to your goals, reviews the condition of the home, talks through what’s possible, and looks at the details that could affect the project, including the layout, plumbing, electrical needs, flooring, walls, trim, moisture concerns, structural limitations, access, and the overall style of the home. We’ve worked in a wide range of homes, from older houses in Chevy Chase to newer subdivision builds in Nicholasville to downtown Lexington condos. We have the experience and expertise to readily provide solid input on any of your needs.
3. Planning the Scope
Whole home remodeling needs a clear scope. Without it, costs and timelines can get confusing quickly.

We help you separate the must-haves from the nice-to-haves, talk through which updates should happen first, and explain where your budget will make the biggest difference. If an idea sounds good but may not be practical for the home, we’ll be honest with you and help you make a well informed decision. It’s your home and our goal is for you to be absolutely excited with the end result!
4. Written Quote and Timeline
After the walkthrough, we prepare a written quote and timeline. Before work begins, you’ll know what is included, what affects the cost, what decisions still need to be made, and what the next steps look like.

We don't want you guessing what is happening or wondering who is responsible for each part of the project.
5. Construction, Communication, and Final Walkthrough
Once the project starts, Alex remains your main point of contact. You are not passed from one person to another or left trying to track down multiple people for updates. These projects can require a lot of people with different timelines, and it can end up being a huge maze if you’re handling it all. That’s why Alex will gladly be your contact person, managing every step of the way as well as getting involved in the build himself.

We go over all the design details with you, including providing you with 3D renderings as well as explaining different material options. We can bring you samples or go to local stores with you, to help you make decisions you're comfortable with.

We keep you informed as the project moves forward and coordinate trusted local professionals when specialized plumbing, electrical, or other trade work is needed.

When the project is complete, we walk through the finished work with you, review the details, answer questions, and make sure the home feels complete.

What We Look for During the First Walkthrough

A home remodeling estimate should be more than a quick look and a rough number.

Before we quote the project, we want to understand the home, your goals, and what may affect the work. During the walkthrough, we may look at:

• Current layout and flow
• Rooms that feel outdated or underused
• Flooring, walls, trim, and finish condition
• Kitchen and bathroom condition
• Plumbing or electrical needs
• Moisture, leak, or ventilation concerns
• Basement or additional living space potential
• Door, window, and lighting needs
• Storage issues
• Material preferences
• How the remodeled spaces should connect
• Budget expectations and project priorities
• Whether the desired scope is realistic

We’ll also give our honest opinion if something may not be worth the money or could create unnecessary complications.

Built Around Quality, Coordination, and Details

A whole home renovation has a lot of visible changes, but the quality of the finished result depends heavily on the planning and prep work.

Floors need to be checked. Existing walls sometimes aren’t straight. Old plumbing or electrical may need attention. Tile, cabinets, trim, doors, flooring, and finish work all need to come together cleanly, so if the existing base has problems, the finished work will show it.

That’s why we pay attention to the small details like level surfaces, clean transitions, solid framing, proper prep, waterproofing where needed, good material choices, and careful finish work.

As a general contractor, we also understand that many projects require more than one trade. If plumbing, electrical, or other specialized work is needed, we help coordinate that with trusted local professionals that we consistently use so you aren’t left trying to manage everything yourself.

Home Remodeling Cost in Lexington & Central Kentucky

Home remodeling costs vary widely because the scope can range from a few room updates to a full interior renovation.

• The biggest cost factors usually include:
• Size of the home or project area
• Number of rooms being remodeled
• Kitchen and bathroom work
• Flooring and tile selections
• Cabinetry and carpentry
• Layout changes
• Plumbing or electrical updates
• Drywall, paint, trim, and finish work
• Basement or deck work
• Hidden issues discovered during demolition
• Material availability
• Level of customization

We will talk through your budget early so you understand what is realistic and where your money is likely to make the biggest impact. We are not here to push the most expensive option. We are here to help you make smart decisions for your home.

How Long Does a Home Remodel Take?

The timeline depends on the size and complexity of the project.

A smaller interior update may take a few weeks. A multi-room remodel may take several weeks to a few months. A larger whole home renovation with kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, layout changes, basement work, or exterior work may take longer.

Things that can add time include material lead times, layout changes, plumbing or electrical updates, hidden leaks, subfloor issues, framing repairs, permitting, specialty trades, and changes to the scope after work begins.

We would rather take the time to do the work correctly than rush through details that affect the long-term quality of the home. At the start of the project you’ll have a clear timeline so you’re not left in the dark - we understand that this may come with inconveniences such as kitchens and bathrooms that are out of order, or you might be staying somewhere else for the time-being. Our end goal is to do everything with clarity, professionalism, and a result that will last for years to come.
